Double the Animation, Double the Fun!

April 16, 2008

I’m just doing a bunch of animating lately. I thought you might like to see what I threw in at the beginning of the movie:

Long Time, No Update…

April 10, 2008

Huh, it’s been a while, hasn’t it? Well, I should probably catch you up on what I’ve been doing…

Well, I made some revisions to the script and read it over again, and I think it’s much better than it used to be. But since I revised the script, I had to rerecord quite a bit, and I’m still not done, but I hope to be soon. It’s definitely worth the extra time, since the movie is going to be miles better now.

And if you’re going to make a movie’s script better, why not make the movie look better, too? I reformatted what I’ve done in animation so far so that it’s widescreen. This took a little while, but it looks great now. And now I’m ready to really gear ahead, since I’ve got all the technical stuff out of the way. This movie is going to be…. Well, not one of the best movies of all time or anything (that spot’s reserved for An Inconvenient Truth… just kidding), but it’ll certainly be better than it was. I think it will be done by the fall. Probably November. And I hope to get out a trailer soon. Just be patient… I’ve got a lot of work to do.

It Begins.

February 29, 2008

I’m finally going to take a break to really buckle down on the movie. I hope to finally finish audio recording shortly.

Launching into Heavy-Duty Production Soon

February 3, 2008

With Red State Banjo episode 19 almost finished, it’s almost time to nosedive into hard-core production.

Business Aspects

January 25, 2008

Here’s a video of my business presentation for the movie’s production in the near future. The increase in February is due to the fact that I plan to finish Red State Banjo Episode 19 this month (January, in case you didn’t know) and then I plan to take a break from episodes through April- possibly even later. Hope you enjoyed by business presentation. You can download the PowerPoint here.

Music!

January 19, 2008

I’m composing some music for the movie. Here are some samples:

Apple Muzak - Light-hearted music box piece meant to mimic the music from the Macintosh ads.
Digging Interlude - A sort of half-montage tune for near the beginning of the movie using banjo and piano.
Acoustic Church - Somewhat of a funeral march for the end of the movie with guitar, piano and church bells.

The above pieces were made with Finale Notepad and GarageBand and should probably undergo another edit.

The 3D Brenda

January 2, 2008

Remember that 3D Derrek head I made a little while ago? Well, I decided to put Brenda into the mix as well. I decided I would have Brenda say, “Oh my!” in the scene in which there is 3D animation. So first I had to get into the Swift3D advanced modeler and use groups of 3D figures (mostly spheres) to sculpt the basic shape of Brenda’s head:

Then I go to the scene editor and add the materials (the colors) to the appropriate shapes:

Then I add the mouth (a black sphere) and animate the mouth saying, “Oh my!” as well as a slight turn of Brenda’s head. Then I add outlines and cartoony shading in the preview and export editor and export it to Flash format. See the result of this madness by clicking here. Cool, eh?

A Little Clip

December 5, 2007

I thought I’d share this little clip from a scene of Orville hallucinating in the movie. PhotoBucket compressed it poorly, though, so it’s not the best quality. To see it, click here.

Hopefully…

November 15, 2007

This weekend I plan to have a work day, during which I will try to finish recording dialogue for the movie.
